American RTS has always stressed the importance of safety and contacting a tow company that is reputable. We would love to take care of all your towing needs but in case you go elsewhere for whatever reason, make sure you use this checklist. When calling a tow company, it's essential to gather important information to ensure a smooth and efficient towing process. Here are some questions to ask when contacting a tow company:

  1. Location and Availability:

  • Where are you located, and what is your service area?

  • Are you available 24/7? What are your operating hours?

  1. Response Time:

  • How soon can you dispatch a tow truck to my location?

  • Do you provide emergency or priority services for urgent situations?

  1. Towing Rates and Fees:

  • What are your towing rates, and how do you calculate charges (e.g., flat fee, mileage)?

  • Are there additional fees for services like after-hours towing or long-distance towing?

  1. Accepted Payment Methods:

  • What forms of payment do you accept (cash, credit cards, insurance billing)?

  • Is there a deposit required, and if so, how much?

  1. Insurance Coverage:

  • Do you work with my insurance company, and can you assist with the claims process?

  • What information do you need from me for insurance purposes?

  1. Vehicle Storage:

  • If my vehicle needs to be stored, what are the storage fees?

  • Do you have a secure storage facility, and how is it monitored?

  1. Towing Equipment and Methods:

  • What types of tow trucks do you have, and are they suitable for my type of vehicle?

  • Do you offer flatbed towing, wheel-lift towing, or other specialized towing methods?

  1. Licensing and Insurance:

  • Are you a licensed towing service, and can you provide your license number?

  • Do you have insurance coverage for potential damages during towing?

  1. Communication and Updates:

  • How will I be notified of the estimated arrival time of the tow truck?

  • Can I get updates on the status of my tow if there are delays?

  1. Special Services:

  • Do you offer additional services, such as jump-starts, tire changes, or lockout assistance?

  • Are your drivers trained to handle specific vehicle types or situations (e.g., motorcycles, heavy-duty vehicles)?

  1. Customer Reviews and References:

  • Can you provide references or share customer reviews/testimonials?

  • Do you have a website where I can learn more about your services and read reviews?

  1. After-Hours Contacts:

  • If I have an issue after normal business hours, how can I reach someone for assistance?

By asking these questions, you'll be better informed about the towing company's capabilities, pricing, and procedures. This information can help you make an educated decision and ensure a positive towing experience.
